Nick Platoff is principal trombone in the Houston Symphony and a recently appointed associate professor of trombone at Rice University.

Nick and Mars met in 2016 while touring Asia with San Francisco Symphony.

Their friendship has taken them all over the world as musical collaborators, accountability buddies, and philosophical and spiritual adventurers.

Mars coached Nick in High Range Magic for his 2024 Houston Symphony principal trombone audition.

Nick credits the HRM approach with helping him win the job, and subsequently becoming professor at Rice University.

In this special event, Nick and Mars will discuss how Nick modified and practiced the High Range Magic approach while preparing a serious audition.

Nick will share his most effective practices, the 6 minute training regime that got him insane results, and unexpected twists and turns that led to powerful learnings.

The event will include time for live Q&A from audience.

This class is recommended for all brass players interested in audition success.
